Springtime in Ruidoso, New Mexico
by Chuck Duncan (photograpy: Mickey Cochran)

If you’ve never enjoyed Ruidoso in the spring then you’ve missed something truly magical. Warm days accentuated by blue skies, the fresh scent of new grass and the distinct feeling of life’s pace slowing to meet the season greet you each morning. The evenings are quiet and cool, offering the best night's sleep you’ll ever enjoy. Cherry trees bloom full and the arrival of our fair weather friends, the Swallows, Robins and Hummingbirds, adds animation to the breathtaking backdrop of fresh blossoms and lime green leaves. This is your invitation to come take it all in. Share the renewal!
Though “Auld Lang Syne” is four months past, Spring is seen as the true beginning of a Ruidoso new year. Warm memories of great downhill skiing, winter fun at the tubing park, family and friends gathered around fireplaces for wondrous Christmas celebrations fill our heads as we look back on a spectacular Ruidoso winter.
But now we look to spring for the start of this year's multitude of activities in Ruidoso. In May we see the arrival of thousands of motorcycles for the annual AspenCash Rally. We will also enjoy the exciting Grand Opening of the beautiful new Inn of the Mountain Gods Resort & Casino. And, of course, the horses make their return on Memorial Day to Ruidoso Downs Racetrack where the action is steady right through labor day.

Plan on visiting the Village of Ruidoso this spring, you will be glad you did. The golf courses are beautiful, the fishing is good, the hiking spectacular and the shopping and dining as pleasing as always. And the evenings…oh the evenings!…sitting on your deck watching nature's most precious moments creates a lasting memory as the sun slowly sets on another Ruidoso spring day. You have your invitation, so come and share this special time of year with us and look to another exciting spring and summer in the Southwest’s favorite playground.
